Welcome to Compete McGill, McGill’s competitive programming
student group. Our club serves as the premiere community for
students at McGill University who are passionate about exploring
the world of quantitative disciplines through various contests,
such as competitive coding, algorithmic trading, and machine
learning competitions. By participating in these events, our
members have the unique opportunity to hone their skills,
collaborate with like-minded individuals, practice technical
interview adjacent skills, gain practical, hands-on experience in
simulated scenarios, and have fun. We believe that competitive
experiences are invaluable for the development of quantitative
skills and problem-solving abilities. We invite you to join us on

Frequently Asked Questions
We don’t have a formal membership process, as we run
events and workshops throughout the year without typical
club meetings where all the members show up (and the 600+
discord server members would make it quite the rowdy
meeting). So if you join our discord server you can
consider yourself a member of Compete McGill.
We host workshops that help new students learn about
quantitative topics to prepare them for success in the
competitive event that is to follow. The events gives
students the opportunity to push themselves and benefit
from friendly competition to develop their skills for
success in their professional and academic pursuits.
The workshops are a good starting point, but are intended
just to give students the basics so they can explore the
topics on their own. As with most pursuits you will have
to practice, a lot, mostly on your own time. But we do
endeavour to lay out the path for you by providing
resources in our discord server related to the competitive
topics. Also we provide the server as a space to potential
meet people with similar interests so you can help each
other develop. But in the end, if you want to win, it will
be an individual path, and we are here to show you to the
trailhead.
That depends on the sponsorships we are able to secure, we
would like to, but that will also depend from event to
event. Though every event will produce the opportunity of
eternal glory for those who top the leaderboard.
